Back in October, our partners at Wolfers Lighting started a new feature on their blog where they shine the spotlight on fabulous team members from Wolfers, System 7, and The Boston Shade Company. The first feature focused on Timothy Carroll, the assistant showroom manager in the Waltham lighting store.

Next up is Lindsay Jordan, our resident shade expert and sales associate here at BSC.Full Blackout - BDC

Q: How long have you been with The Boston Shade Company?

Lindsay: I started in December 2013 in our Design Center showroom. My initial focus was on small-scale projects and managing the showroom.

Q: Why electronic shades? Why this industry?

Lindsay: My mother has a full-service interior design studio (punchjordan home) in Cleveland, Ohio, so I was fortunate to grow up in the design industry. Her studio specializes in custom upholstery and window drapery.

After being with punchjordan full time for 15 years, I found my way to Boston. Technology goes hand-in-hand with interior design, and Boston was an ideal city to learn the ropes. I was excited to see how the two would work together and even more excited to apply my experience to the business.

Q: What’s one or two things you wish everyone knew about motorized shades?

Lindsay: First and foremost, these products are easy to use and so convenient for the home. We control our artificial light by a flip of a switch, and now you can do the same with your natural light, thanks to electronic shades. Motorized shades make our ability to work with the light in our space even simpler.

Q: What’s your current favorite product?

Lindsay: Without a doubt, a Lutron automated, full blackout shade system is my favorite product (pictured to the right). With a push of a button, you can eliminate all natural light from the room. This is a wonderful solution for people with light sensitivity or individuals working a night shift.

Stop by our Design Center showroom to see our full blackout display in action and to say hi to Lindsay!
